Key Lime vs Pecan Pie Fight


The debate over what pie should be the official Florida State pie is on again. You didn't know there is no designation for a State pie? Well your amazing Florida government representatives have not been able to decide what should be the official state pie. It has been debated a number of times beginning in 1988.

Some wacko North Florida politician, Rep. Dwight Stansel a Wellborn Democrat and vice chairman of the House Agriculture Committee who raises pecans on his family farm, is challenging a bill sponsored by state Rep. Mitch Needelman, a Melbourne Republican, who is introducing a bill in the House with fellow Republican Ken Sorensen of Key Largo to make the Key Lime Pie the Florida state pie.

Now this isn't about which pie you would prefer to eat. It is about which pie better represents Florida. How could the pecan pie, which is Georgia's state pie, possibly represent Florida.

So let's demand our representatives to do the right thing and finally make the Key Lime Pie the official State of Florida pie.
